This year Berkswich Mothers’ Union were delighted to be part of the Berkswich Parish “Giving Tree” project.
Working with Staffordshire Women’s Aid, Christmas Trees were placed in our three churches and decorated with gift tags each naming a gift personally chosen by a child or mum presently staying at the refuge. Members of the congregation were invited to take one of the tags, buy the gift and then drop it off at one of our churches to be delivered to Women’s Aid during Christmas week. Naturally the response was fantastic and all the tags were taken. Although, for security purposes, we were not able wrap the gifts, Mothers’ Union were tasked with hand-making Christmas labels and decorating the gifts with bows and ribbon. As you will see from the photograph, our decorating team had great fun but at the same time were mindful of the circumstances under which each child and mum would receive the gift.
